Carta displays also have some speed benefits that reduce the need for
full page refresh so page turns are smoother and there's less ghosting.

The biggest disadvantages of this e-book reader are that you can see each pixel on the screen, you can see old image after
full page refresh and display is not
so white as you can see above.

If you are just using the stock stuff, under heavy usage you will get a week or
so, if you are downloading Android apps, it all depends on what they are doing (syncing constantly, constant
full page refreshes, etfc)
About the only noticeable difference in terms of software is they made it
so the screen never does a
full page refresh when reading.
I did notice that too, and the light seems to make it more apparent,
so I switched over to using
full page refresh for every
page and don't seem to notice it much anymore.
But the quality isn't very good because the text is rougher and less dark than with
full page refresh turned on
so it's not going to be very useful for that.
The long
refresh times, the flashing, the bad contrast, all of it turned me off of the Sony product entirely, not to mention that by reducing the font size
so you can read a
full page at a time, it's a strain on the eyes.
