Here, early learning educators gather to explore the power of their interactions with children and learn practical strategies that help build empathetic
future citizens of the world.

As we step into the
future, we need more and better collaboration locally, regionally, and globally between millennials from around the
world as we form the next generation
of leaders, entrepreneurs, scholars, parents, and,
of course, global
citizens.
As we learn to live as
citizens of one
world, the history
of the whole
world - wide church becomes the inheritance
of all Christians and a rich resource for the
future.
But for the
future we require a dream
of a
world -
citizen who, without denying or betraying his native land asks not how his country can become greater in power and prestige but how it can serve and be served by the total
world community for the sake
of the mutual survival and fulfillment
of all.
If it is ethically unacceptable to have the
world controlled by transnational corporations alone, and if we can not trust global political authority to represent the interests
of ordinary
citizens, ethicists are under pressure to devise alternative images
of a desirable
future.
The
Citizens became a financial monster back in 2008 after being bought by some
of the
world's richest people, and our club decided that they would fight the newfound riches
of the likes
of Chelsea and Manchester City by investing in our
future.
Public involvement campaigns, combining
citizen action with accurate technical information, have been central to the progress made during the past 25 years to prevent pollution from
future mining, and restoration
of lands damaged by past mining around the
world.
So it turns out that it doesn't matter that all the promo material on the film — TV ads, trailers, everything — reveals the story's twist — Lincoln and Jordan and all their fellow
citizens aren't survivors
of a global disaster but rich people's insurance policies — because all that happens after the secret is revealed is that Bay can finally get down to doing what he loves to do: Stomp and crash and burn and destroy as Lincoln and Jordan escape into the real
world — just 20 minutes into our
future — and must be recaptured.
Being a global
citizen goes well beyond simply traveling on the international stage or living an expatriate lifestyle; it refers to a more holistic view
of the
world, understanding the commonalities we share and recognizing our responsibility to help our fellow man and safeguard our planet's
future.
What can we do as educational and cultural workers, at this crucial moment in history, when corporate revenue expands as the job market shrinks, when there is such a callous disregard for human suffering and human life, when the indomitable human spirit gasps for air in an atmosphere
of intellectual paralysis, social amnesia, and political quiescence, when the translucent hues
of hope seem ever more ethereal, when thinking about the
future seems anachronistic, when the concept
of utopia has become irretrievably Disneyfied, when our social roles as
citizens have become increasingly corporatized and instrumentalized in a
world which hides necessity in the name
of consumer desire, when media analyses
of military invasions is just another infomercial for the US military industrial complex with its huge global arms industry, and when teachers and students alike wallow in absurdity, waiting for the junkyard
of consumer life to vomit up yet another panacea for despair?
«The International Year
of Light is a global initiative which will highlight to the
citizens of the
world the importance
of light and optical technologies in their lives, for their
futures, and for the development
of society.
JCR: Doing a parallelism
of those reflections, when we were attending the conference «Building a Global
Citizens Movement», co-organised by DEEEP / CONCORD in collaboration with CIVICUS and GCAP, we talked about the
future of world - society in so many ways.
In this
world in which every day it becomes more difficult to maintain social cohesion, we believe it is suitable to guide the training
of future teachers to humanist education, that comes close to the needs and the reality
of life
of the inhabitants
of the planet and educate the
citizens aware
of the context in which we live.
Looking out at their students each day, faculty members at Seattle's John Stanford International School don't see just baby faces and blank slates: They see
future citizens of an interconnected
world.
