The study provides important insights into the feasibility of the programme in terms of: its potential effects on outcomes; an estimate of these potential effect sizes (providing valuable information on sample sizes for
future study); the impacts on different groups (particularly with regard to free
school meal eligibility); and key facilitators and barriers to implementation (from the process
evaluation and the exploratory analysis of dosage).
She and her team have deftly handled
school closures, implemented new standards and tests, developed
future principals, adjusted the district's educator
evaluation system, and much more.
Those high - performing
schools did things like «set measurable goals on standards based tests and benchmark tests across all proficiency levels, grades, and subjects»; create
school missions that were «
future oriented,» with curricula and instruction designed to prepare students to succeed in a rigorous high -
school curriculum; include improvement of student outcomes «as part of the
evaluation of the superintendent, the principal, and the teachers»; and communicate to parents and students «their responsibility as well for student learning, including parent contracts, turning in homework, attending class, and asking for help when needed.»
Yet the major sticking points are Mr. Corbett's
school reforms that would eliminate teacher seniority rights and base
future pay increases on more rigorous
evaluations that include student learning.
Rob Coe, from Durham University's Centre for
Evaluation and Monitoring, a baseline test provider, told
Schools Week in 2015 that his organisation's assessment could make predictions for four - year - olds «good enough for what we need» and could more accurately predict the score range in which pupils were likely to be in
future.
