gained new abilities focused on teaching 21st Century Skills, discovered new avenues to promote positive, powerful
student behavior, and learned effective ways to integrate
feedback from students into classroom activities.
Research by John Hattie and Helen Timperley has shown that simply delivering
feedback on its own has little effect on
students; rather effective
feedback gains its power
from the context in which it is given, most particularly when
students can put it to use.1 Using Hattie and Timperley's research as a framework, the teams sought to give
feedback that pushed
students to answer three questions: 1) Where am I going?
In addition to
gaining feedback from your faculty / staff, it can also be beneficial to collect information
from your parents and
students.
Because
students can view each other's work for as long as they please and because the
feedback they provide is written,
students benefit both
from the reflection necessary to give
feedback and the new insights they
gain from the
feedback they receive.
