My first red room it tooks * six * coats and six
gallons of paint because Mr. Wonderful (not at the time though) talked me out of using primer!

Because we were dealing with
gallons of cream at a time, we made it with an electric
paint mixer attached to a power drill.
I bought 1
gallon of June Day Behr
paint (1 quart wouldn't have been enough
because it took 3 coats to cover the dark finish) I turned it into chalk
paint by adding a tablespoon
of unsanded grout mixed with a bit
of water for every cup
of paint I used.
Kind
of like going to the
paint store and buying
paint that was returned
because it was mixed wrong at a few bucks a
gallon.
Evertime I
paint I always remember that I hate
painting and this little space took 4
gallons of ultra pure white semi gloss
paint from Home Depot
because I don't think the walls have been
painted in years.
The actual name
of the
paint color was «avid apricot», which I know
because the previous owners left us a five
gallon bucket in case we wanted to
paint MORE things pink.
We had to pull up the carpet
because 1/2
gallon of paint spreads FAST!
However, I am very glad we haven't been able to
paint the living room,
because the color I have picked out (and two
gallons of it purchased!)
