Runic Games has announced that its budget priced action adventure
game Torchlight has surpassed 500,000 in sales as of a few weeks ago and has officially gone Gold.

With some extra time over the holiday, I was looking for a new
game to play and decided to look into
Torchlight.
I've recently got into
torchlight 2, but I'm looking for any type of
game to play with someone.
Torchlight is good hack and slash
game, a very nice Diablo, WoW and Fate mix with a solid gameplay.
Some
gamers may be disappointed to hear that there's no multiplayer option in the
game, but there's so much fun to be had in the dark reaches under
Torchlight that you won't really mind.
Torchlight does it amazingly, the graphics look like Team Fortress 2 met Diablo 2, and the lack of multiplayer is a small misstep, but considering I hated Diablo 2 single player and love this, you owe it to yourself to buy this
game if you are even glancing at this review.
Add in a few innovations and what you've got is
Torchlight; a
game that raises the expectations for dungeon - crawling action RPGs by being not just fine - tuned but affordable as well.
Torchlight is firstly, a great
game if you fancy something to pick up and play for an hour or two and feel a sense of doing something worthwile.
This is a great
game and I'm looking forward to playing
Torchlight 2 when it comes out.
If you liked the original Diablo or simlilar hack»n' slay
games - then you will LOVE

game, after all the Diablo 3 hooplah this week I had to come leave a review for
Torchlight.
Torchlight is a solid
game.
This
game is named
Torchlight, but as much resemblance it has with the Diablo franchise, it would have made a great name as «Diablo 2.5».
I'm an avid isometric dungeon crawler fan, and
Torchlight has been one of the most satisfying
games in years.
Added features in
Torchlight such as the pet system and robust modding tools truly distinguish the
game as an entirely different beast.
Diablo was one of the best
games of all time -
torchlight contains all of the epicness of d2 with a streamlined interface and more vivid graphics.
Misses Online Play, but that is coming with
Torchlight II, what makes this
game unique, is the Modding.
Torchlight is a simple RPG Adventure
game made by Runic Games.
These days, big name publishers are playing it safe by banking on low risk sequels or reboots and this has allowed smaller, more independent developers to step up to the plate and offer up some truly original gaming such Chair's Shadow Complex and Runic
Game's
Torchlight.
All I could think about was
Torchlight after playing this
game and that I haven't played it in a few weeks.

The
game plays similarly to
Torchlight 2 and Diablo III.
It's easy to see those influences in the video, which shows characters running around an overworld from an isometric perspective, much like Diablo or
games inspired by it, such as
Torchlight.
It might seem like a small thing at first, but the ability to insta - save no matter where you are in the dungeon makes
Torchlight the perfect
game to play when taking a break from homework or when waiting for friends.
Combat will be familiar to fans of hack - and - slash
games like Diablo and
Torchlight, but Skylanders leans a bit more towards kid - friendly button mashing and skill upgrades than the execution of combos.
Torchlight lacks multiplayer support of any kind, which I can't help but feel is a pretty big omission for this type of
game.
However,
games like
Torchlight have proven that this can be done effectively if the combat onscreen is exciting and engaging.
This brought to light a problem that plagued Diablo 3 and unfortunately
Torchlight 2 as well: Difficulty is a complete guessing
game.
Torchlight II is looking to get released, digitally, this year on PC, maybe Mac (considering the original
game is on there) and eventually on Xbox Live.
You see, the main thing about
Torchlight 2 is that, whereas with
games like Diablo 3 where you're forced to keep on the usually quite linear main quest,
Torchlight excels in finding little distractions for you to fall into.
While I've already mentioned
Torchlight 2's art style in passing it is one of the
game's defining features.
Admittedly the
game does revolve around you killing one particular baddy who's got a certain demonic tendancy, such as a great love for slaughtering entire towns and such, but the
Torchlight world doesn't revolve around any grand mystical conflict.
The levels look like they were taken from
Torchlight, which I always enjoy looking at each time I play those
games, and reinforced the hack n» slash feel I got from the
game.
Torchlight 2 has a ton of fantastic mods that turn this great
game into a fantastic
game, but due to technical limitations, you can only have 10 working at a time.
A
Torchlight MMO sounds like it would be all kinds of awesome, but the
game is a long way off.
Gamers hoping to immerse themselves deeper into the
Torchlight world will eventually be able to play a
Torchlight MMO, but it won't be for a while.
Unlike many role playing
games where you create a character and model him, or her, after your preferences
Torchlight has three premade characters classes to choose from; the Destroyer, Vanquisher, and Alchemist.
While I'm happy you've included
games like Morrowind (best
game ever in my opinion) and PS: T, BG2, and such, there are also
games features such as Stick of truth,
Torchlight 2, and Diablo 3 amongst others.
I du n no
torchlight 2 did nt strike me as a good or interesting
game.
Making a dungeon crawler seems simple on paper, but it is actually incredibly difficult to keep things varied and interesting enough for players to remain engaged as they explore your dungeons, something both
Torchlight games managed to do so in spades.
Runic's
Torchlight, released for 1200MSP, was the second to last
game in the House Party promotion but by no means the least — the
game added 66,924 players in its first week, a fantastic turnout for a port of a PC
game that came out in 2009, and was apparently developer Runic's best day of sales ever.
Torchlight, the sleeper hit on the PC a couple years ago (it was my 2009 Fun PC
Game of the Year), has made it to the Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Arcade.
Torchlight tapped into the psyche of the old - school PC
gamer with its Diablo-esque hack - and - slash lootfest, adding just enough freshness to hook the Diablo veteran and hopefully snare new
gamers with the joy of whacking the closest baddie, pinata - like, and having all multi-colored, unidentified magic goodness drop to the ground.
When things are done right, you have
games such as Diablo,
Torchlight, or Dark Alliance,
games that are a lot of fun to play and border on addicting.
I mean,

game at heart, that's where I played it first and fell in love with it there.

Players who have not yet experienced
Torchlight would do good to check this
game out, as it is one of the highest - quality action / RPGs currently available on Xbox Live, and well worth the 1200 Microsoft points ($ 15, which is significantly less than the regular price for the Steam version of the
game).
