mission design and approach, this
game is pretty much unparalleled.
Between
missions you can save your
game (though this still resets
when you die) and repair and upgrade your mech.
I found it the most effective
when I was just playing through the
game one
mission at a time and then taking a break.
With each area being cordoned off from the rest of the stages, the pacing can feel a little off at times, with environmental transitions happening suddenly after a loading screen rather than dynamically occurring as in the Souls
games, but this more concentrated focus on the levels also allows for condensed, goal based gameplay that is almost impossible to achieve in Dark Souls, which is certainly welcomed
when you're short on time and just want to grind out a twilight
mission or two.

game is at its best
when this simplicity is combined with the nicely designed, relatively open levels that offer up plenty of ways of progressing through the given
mission.
If you want a deeply involving
game that will force you to think outside the box
when it comes to combat, looting,
mission, interactions, and a whole host of other features than this is the
game for you.
When you're breaking a horse, be it for a
mission or your own personal amusement, to avoid getting thrown off the horse simply move the left analogue stick left and right repeatedly, ignoring what the
game tells you to do.
While that in itself is a bother, especially
when missions are set quite far apart,
when it really starts to hurt is
when you complete a
mission with not enough items and have to start the entire
game, again... Example, Adam has just climbed a skyscraper that is only half built, with scaffolding and construction equipment littering the site.
