game environment, but also making a dozen multiple choice decisions about the character's actions in an unfolding fictional
narrative.
Final Fantasy IV wasn't only the first
game in the series to have a fully fleshed out storyline,
consisting of themes of conflict, love and betrayal, it was also one of the first RPG's to have a substantial
narrative.
It's weird for any
game to do this, and it continues to reinforce the presumed
narrative that Final Fantasy XV
consists of cobbled - together pieces, and its grand ambitions were sacrificed to push it out the door in 2016.
