What some
reviewers have written about this fact is true but it makes you
try harder next time around... with a little more angst in the bat to compensate:) and put more
game in you to beat the developers at their
game.
While the
game's multiplayer has been getting a lot of praise from
reviewers on the PC, on PS4 I was only able to find an opponent after an hour of
trying.
honestly, every
reviewer should
try to make their own
game or two or five and then realise you can't really be a good video
game professional
reviewer unless... you have
tried to make a
game your own.

trying to prove this
game is «not AAA» 3) Even one of the Reviewing sites start to back peddle and
try and find excuses for their strange reviews 4) This
game is even mentioned by a non
game publisher as a «watershed» for the
games industry because of the graphics and playability Even a blind man with a stick can feel that something is going wrong here with the «
reviewers».
To
try and explain what I mean: Sega - 16 has various
reviewers and their goal is to review all 16 - bit (and now 8 - bit) Sega
games.
Some
reviewers (such as the one linked at the end of this article) have criticised it as too simple a
game to enjoy singleplayer, but lauded it as a wonderful multiplayer experience while you
try to race each other and knock each other off the track.
But
trying to belittle a
game just because you don't like it (or maybe it's the console) is stupid, when obviously it has something going for it when many people and
reviewers view it so highly.
Then the
reviewer gives the
game a bad score and all of a sudden people agree with it without even
trying the
game.
In terms of critical reception, IGN
reviewer Lucas M. Thomas gave the Virtual Console version a score of 8.5 / 10, encouraging players to give it a
try and forget about the common belief that it is a «bad
game»; [20] he praised the sound, the gameplay, the length and the presentation, but admitted that the graphics «did not age very well».
I would think that a pretty fundamental qualification for a
game reviewer would be to very quickly grasp the systems at play in a
game and understand what it's
trying to go for and how well it achieves that.
S / he is upset to hear that the
game isn't perfect, so s / he
tries to «punish» the
reviewer by cancelling the pre-order, an act which actually punishes the publisher.
8.5 / 10 for me, giving it a 10 because
reviewers these days can only give good marks to the same simple mechanic
games and not the ones that
try new things.
Does the
game merit the universal acclaim it's getting, or is this a case of «Bioshock Infinite Syndrome,» where
game reviewers have such a low bar for reviewing
games that any
game that is pretty and is actually
trying to do something vaguely new gets a 10?
Another
reviewer wanted to love it, but just couldn't ignore the problems: «I
tried so hard to love this
game but its blurry picture even with x34, low fps even with gtx 980ti and the hitches and glitches I just don't.»
