style, this action - RPG by Dean Dodrill is definitely one of the best
games in this year's Summer of Arcade.
It didn't seem like a particularly good match, but once we saw some trailers of the
game and got a glimpse of the art

Dust is one of the finest Metroidvania
games from recent years, offering just as many secrets and upgrades as Shadow Complex and fluid
animation that looks like a Vanillaware
game with a Western

In fact, the only real story in story mode is in the prerendered movies between chapters, and while they're bordering on well made (the modeling and art
style are high quality, but apparently the motion - capture budget was used only for the
game itself, as the
animation is done by hand and sometimes isn't that good), they are mostly just a series of scenes that show the next boss character preparing to try to destroy the heroes.
There's a lot of character model and
animation asset reuse from MVC3, which I'm fine with, but some of it doesn't seem to transition over well from the more comic - book art
style to this
game's more cinematic universe look.
Although not technically an anime film, it is obvious that this Final Fantasy, like the video
games themselves, are rooted mostly in Japanese
styles of
animation and designs.
The trailer also shows some new
animation in the
style of previous trailers, as well as a glimpse at the
game's new «Encore Mode».

While the earlier
game was 2D, the sequel applies a combination of 2D and 3D
animations, using a method they call «Camera Projection» to create a 3D environment that they can «project» the world's visuals onto to create a timeless
style.
A Boy and His Blob is hands down one of the best looking
games I saw at E3, not just in its incredible
animation style, but the entire product that WayFoward is delivering.
Oh, and it doesn't hurt that the hand - drawn, old
animation -
style graphics and presentation make this one of the best looking
games I've ever played.
The graphics aren't great (Princess Allura has some of the most awkward running
animations I've ever seen in a
game and is a victim of that weird PS2 - era Japanese design that's all form and no function), but the
game itself is a lot of fun, and quite different from modern tower defense -
style games.

The
game was praised by pretty much everyone who played it, due to its fantastic character design and art
style, superb
animations and voice acting (particularly Mark Hamill's show - stopping performance as the Joker), and varied and entertaining gameplay.
The new show may be aimed at children with its
animation style, but the influence of the
game's creators, plus a sprinkling of Adventure Time thinking, will certainly mean there will be plenty for the adults to enjoy too.
A gorgeous hand - drawn
style and fantastic physics - based
animations are reason enough for this
game to be a head - turner, but it's the fact that it never missed a beat with its performance that truly impressed me.
Thanks to the increased technological advances in video
