The gameplay experience as a whole isn't frustrating despite being challenging at times — you never really feel the urge to rage quit.

experiencing this fiercely unique zombie sim and a true highlight of the survival genre.»
Sure, it's pretty repetitive and the core
gameplay is the same
as most of the Lego games, but the enjoyable storyline, great set - pieces and varied
gameplay makes it feel like a
whole new
experience.
The ability to think through
gameplay really improved the
experience for me
as a

What's even better is that this
whole experience is seamless with no loading
as gameplay and cutscenes meld in complete sync throughout.
Furthermore, multiple game features point back at that key challenge of taking cover, making the
whole experience coherent and consistent: Shields that let you plant a cover where needed, enemy to be used
as meat shield, invulnerable rock worms to hide behind
as they move which let you access a vantage point... All contribute in and deepen the concept of cover, lending a symbolic nature to
gameplay that make it a focused learning
experience.
The
gameplay feels right and contains most of the core tenets of what makes us love this series so much, but the
whole experience is wrapped around a disjointed frame that's almost
as off - putting
as it is inviting.
The musical variety truly adds to the
whole experience, dragging you into the world of Mira just
as much
as the visuals and
gameplay does.
While the core of the
gameplay stands fairly well
as a
whole, the lack of an abundant set of
gameplay modes for single players, a very poor tutorial, and a lackluster story mode hamper the overall
experience; however, the multiplayer portion of the game helps get this title back on its feet and running again.

For «Sonic Adventure 1,» the dev team should've just had Sonic
as the sole playable character in order to polish his

Why it's a Game of the Year: The poster boy for the
whole «video games
as an art form» thing, Shadow of the Colossus manages to tell a story that could only be told through the video game medium, and combines it with a unique
gameplay experience, turning what is essentially a giant boss rush into something truly meaningful.
