Though tennis was born and
grew up in theEast, it has long been a national
game, and Mr. Denny and his fellow officersare merely giving it a national administration.
It's always been my favorite sport to watch, and even
though I did enjoy a basketball
game or two
growing up, my heart has always been with football.
I ended
up growing tired of it about halfway through the
game,
though.
Though you could say I
grew up with the character, first playing the
game as a teenage girl, then watching the movies amidst hangovers in my twenties, I was exactly clamoring for a new start.
If you passed it
up because you
grew up in the more edgy era of Final Fantasy 7, or were turned off by the mediocrity that is Final Fantasy 8 (
though I stand by the super cool leveling mechanics of that
game), then now's your chance to try it again, because while it can be jarring to see the series go back to a more traditional fantasy style, you do yourself a disservice by judging it solely on that.
Interestingly, even
though Nintendo kind of resurrected the videogame industry in the 1980s after it went bust, and most Western kids
grew up playing Nintendo, once Western companies got back
up and going there was a decline in sales of Japanese
games, so that now Japanese
games aren't quite as dominant in the West.
Our industry is finally
growing up,
though we need to
grow a lot more, and we need to realize that, like movies, we are getting so many different types of
games to draw in people of all ages, genders and races.
Growing up, I had a big brother who collected
games, so even
though I was born in 1994, I was still able to play many retro
games.
However, of the
games I
grew up playing, Id have to say that Super Mario Bros 3 and Bubble Bobble are at the top of my most frequently played list, even
though, as with some of the others mentioned, I never actually owned a copy of Bubble Bobble until I was older.
Though some may call me cynical, I can definitely see Sony looking to inflate its monthly PlayStation Plus line -
ups with emulated
games, and in terms of the variety of
games, this is something that will no doubt
grow organically.
This allows
gamers to quickly
grow attached to the characters,
though many more will show
up throughout the
game as well.
I
grew up playing the Master System port of Shinobi, and it was an excellent
game — the arcade version,
though, still works as a perfect example of the side - scrolling action genre that gets nearly everything right.
My parents didn't necessarily support my interest in gaming when I was
growing up, so I was limited to my Sega Genesis with Sonic Spinball, Boogerman, Eternal Champions, Dinosaurs for Hire and the WWF and Mortal Kombat
games (sans MK1, even
though it was the very first
game I had ever played).
This is a video
game based on friendship and
growing up,
though the base of the
game is set around puzzles.
Though I never owned any Sega console besides the Genesis
growing up, my sister and I were able to enjoy a fairly wide variety of Sega
games through their presence on Nintendo consoles, the most memorable of which being Sonic...
Though I didn't
grow up with a Sega of my own, I do have a fair number of memories with the console, and its
games, myself.
I can see this becoming another cult classic that I will play with my friends, even
though we've all
grown up I believe this title still have the power to bring
gamers together once more.
