Now, this information doesn't directly correlate to other Steam
games or
games outside of Steam
with loot boxes, but I'd assume the drop rates are within a similar region for the rarest items in other titles.
But
games haven't gone up in price since the PlayStation 2 era, and that's why we're dealing
with DLC, microtransactions, online passes,
loot boxes, you name it.
I do like how the
game will only ever make you wait for about ninety seconds before giving you a match against bots, meaning you can still gain the exp you don't in skirmish
games without having to wait ages for players, its great for the types of people that aren't big on multiplayer, each vehicle has unlockable skins, voice lines, tombstones to mark deaths and emotes for bragging rights, the
game also features a leveling system
with loot boxes for unlockable gear and titles at each level up, meaning there are always rewards for even the casual player to earn which is great for replay value.
If the house always wins at the casino, we don't even know how to begin explaining how much winning video
game developers are doing
with their
loot box revenue.

gamer, I did
not have an issue
with the

And Overwatch, a
game with over 35 million players worldwide, sparked the biggest conversation around
loot boxes —
with its director Jeff Kaplan having to insist that Overwatch's
loot boxes were
not «really evil».
Due to the fervour around microtransactions following Star Wars Battlefront II, there was concern from the player base that EA would force Bioware's implementation of predatory
loot box economies, and Brennon Holmes, a member of the development team would speak up on the matter to say that the Bioware team is full of
gamers who want to discuss the best way to move forward
with the idea, and that they weren't set in stone.
If a
game was designed
with loot boxes in mind, didn't charge real world money for them, and actually made the
game an all - around rewarding experience without hours and hours of pointless grind, it could be fun... COULD be.
Now, also for the sake of argument, let's look at
games that have
loot boxes, but don't allow you to buy them
with real world money.
Well, because
loot boxes are coming in virtually all of this holiday's most anticipated
games: Shadow of War, Battlefront 2, and even Assassin's Creed: Origins (the latter of which won't allow you to obtain these
with real world money).
Admittedly, there's nothing in the buyable

game with a hell of a lot of time and effort, but it's hard to see Blizzard selling bundles of skins, emotes and various other trinkets, some of which cost more than Overwatch itself, and
not feel a sense of disapproval, especially considering there's no other
game rewards and the vast majority of
loot boxes only cough up boring sprays or character voice lines.
Of course, purchasing season passes on top of full - price
games isn't appealing to everyone and mixing this in
with far less palatable microtransactions and
loot boxes seems like a rather surefire way to invite negative reactions from players, particularly in the current climate.
