We have so far emitted around two trillion tons of what historically has been called «carbonic acid
gas» and currently emit around forty billions tons annually — not to mention the current
buildout of «clean safe natural
gas,» i.e. fracked fossil methane (a gangplank to the future?).
If the problem is human emissions of CO2 then the answer is well within our grasp — nuclear and hydro
buildout, with natural
gas as a bridge until it is complete.
Such a
buildout could lead to either prolonged dependence on
gas, or large - scale underuse and abandonment of
gas infrastructure.
