The primary «job» for this breed will always be as a herding dog; however, other jobs include: bomb detection, narcotics detection, agility competitor, Frisbee trial competitor, search and rescue work, Fly ball participation, competitive obedience and even work as seeing eye dogs and
general assistance dogs for the handicapped.

Volunteers sit with adoptable
dogs at our adoption site, help with set - up and clean up of the event, and provide
general assistance.
Five of the «Comunidades» have laws for
assistance dogs in
general: Castilla y León, Cataluña, Galicia, País Vasco and Valenciana
It is this authors opinion that in the future the
general public will demand their right to be safe and at ease while in the company of working
assistance dogs.
Public access rights are provide the motive to all of this, meanwhile the safety of the
general public, as well as that of those partnered with
assistance dogs, is also of great concern.
