Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli released a report Monday showing the fiscal year - end
general fund balance of $ 2.2 billion was $ 432 million more than projected in February and the state put money in a «rainy day fund» for the first time since 2008.
The audit released by the Comptroller's office found that between January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2012, Saratoga County's
general fund balance decreased 41 percent, from $ 24.7 million to $ 10.3 million.
While the officers» cost is being shared with Utica Community Schools, the city will reduce
the general fund balance contribution by $ 62,600, Varney explained.
