This finding is consistent with Action Theory formulations (Brandtstadter & Lerner, 1999), as well as
empirical research (e.g., Lopez &
Little, 1996; Shahar, Henrich, Blatt, Ryan, &
Little, 2003) indicating that children and adolescents can play a role in
generating the very social conditions that play a role in their adverse developmental outcomes.
