genre efforts come and go, never so much as blipping on my radar... and why?

Coming off two critically acclaimed films — the family drama «Summer Hours» and the epic terrorist thriller «Carlos» — his next
effort marks another gear change for the director who refuses to be pinned down to any one
genre or style.
James DeMonaco also used the horror
genre to prop up his career with his second film, «The Purge,» and should note the
efforts from second - time filmmakers Hannah Fidell («A Teacher») and Jeremy Sauliner (festival fave «Blue Ruin,»
coming in «14).
This shouldn't
come as much of a surprise from the filmmaker that brought us three Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, as well as The Lone Ranger, but this is a true
genre effort, a film which takes Verbinski back to his horror routes (The Ring).

effort to capture how things really are, The Spectacular Now is an earnest
coming - of - age film that avoids the glib reflexes symptomatic of the
genre, and the sanctimony and staginess of overwrought addiction melodramas.
Writer / director Adam Brooks may not have a great track record when it
comes to the romantic comedy
genre, but he's certainly making up for it with his latest directorial
effort.
After playing the beta I
came away feeling that Destiny is a mediocre
effort in a stale
genre.
Not everything always goes according to plan though, and EA's
effort feels more like an investment in what is to
come, as opposed to the revolution of the
genre.
