By using the term professional learning community we signify our
interest not only in discrete acts of teacher sharing, but in the establishment of a schoolwide culture that makes collaboration expected, inclusive,
genuine,
ongoing and focused on critically examining practice to improve student outcomes.
Given the complexity of the health reform environment, the need for sustained and
ongoing efforts at health reform, and the inadvisability of relying on «the market» to drive health reform, this Commission — if sufficiently empowered in the public
interest (rather than professional, bureaucratic or private
interests)-- could be very useful, not least in helping to demonstrate your
genuine commitment to a healthy future for Medicare.
