So there you can go and you can get Virtual Console games, you can
get WiiWare games, you can get what we announced recently, Virtual Console Arcade games, and download those to your Wii.
I wasn't even planning on
getting any WiiWare games right off the bat but I don't see how I can pass this up now.
Dreamcast top - down racer Rush Rush Rally Racing will be
getting a WiiWare release on the 19th of April in the EU.

Konami is one of the more respected video game publishers in the gaming world, but they've
got quite a stinker on their hands with this
WiiWare release.
It's Cave Story week on the Nintendo Download, and Nintendo has
gotten every other
WiiWare game out of the way in order to make sure Studio Pixel's eagerly anticipated action adventure has center stage.
And given Amazon's merchandising expertise, I hoped that unlike on so many other platforms (
Wiiware springs to mind as a sad example), Kindle games would
get plenty of visibility and Kindle developers would have reasonable marketing tools made available to them.
Before 2009, I never went on a single forum due to being so young at the time, which meant in 2008 I only
got news from the Nintendo Channel / Wii Shop, but since that was the year I started playing my DS more due to the rise of the
WiiWare shovelware service that was likely the reason I missed it.
At least I can still play my Wii discs on either my Wii or Wii U, but come January 2019 if I realize there's a
Wiiware game I never
got to play and I want it then I'm SOL.
I
get the feeling the Switch version will be based more off of Cave Story +, which is basically an enhanced PC version of the
Wiiware remake.
On the
WiiWare front we've
got some equally exciting news as NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits (Over The Top Games, Players: 1 - 2, E — Mild Fantasy Violence, Price: 1,000 Wii Points) lands on the service.
From the digital distribution side, you've
got services like
WiiWare — actually let me back up.
Not only is the VC
getting some love, but
WiiWare and DSiWare as showing up to play as summer starts to wind down.
One thing that
gets lost is the fact that
WiiWare is included in the Wii Shop Channel and isn't a seperate channel.
Not only do we
get the first FPS over
WiiWare in Onslaught (Hudson Entertainment, 1 - 4 players, Rated T for Teen — Animated Blood, Violence, 1,000 Wii Points), but we also
get a whopping three VC games: The Last Ninja (Commodore 64, 1 player, Rated E10 + for Everyone 10 and Older — Animated Blood, Mild Violence, 500 Wii Points), INTERNATIONAL KARATE (Commodore 64, 1 - 2 players, Rated E10 + for Everyone 10 and Older — Mild Violence, 500 Wii Points), Pitstop II (Commodore 64, 1 - 2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points).
Who knows, we could actually
get some episodic content via
WiiWare... hahhahaha.
They were working on it at one point for
Wiiware and a few screenshots exist but it never
got finished.
I actually liked that
WiiWare had some nice exclusives like this that Xbox Live Arcade and PSN didn't
get.
IGN
got some hands - on time with this upcoming RTS game for the
WiiWare service.
To be fair Bit.Trip Runner was released on
WiiWare in 2010, however I didn't
get it myself until 2011, when it was released on Steam.
If you want to use every channel and have just two or three more
WiiWare games beside «Space Invaders
Get Even», there is a storage problem.
If we start
getting info / dates on Bubble Bobble Wii and Animales, we'll have definite reasons to
get excited about
WiiWare in 09.
Since Nintendo allowed Space Invaders
get even a
Wiiware release, they better allow Neo Geo games over 500 Meg on the vc.
WiiWare got the latest game from High Voltage Software, Hot Rod Racing, as well as Family Glide Hockey.
We've still
got a couple of
WiiWare games to check out, some alternative versions to Wonder Boy games, and games from fan - favorite SEGA developers Atlus, Hudson and Treasure that appeared on non-SEGA platforms.
I intend to
get this, I've been in love with
WiiWare stuff for a while now.
We've
got something from PSN, something from XBLA, something from
WiiWare, and something from Steam, so there should be a little something for everyone.
Hopefully the rumnors that PopCap may be
getting into
WiiWare mean that a Zuma on the service with pointer controls is possible.
Both the Wii U and 3DS are
getting demos for Sonic Lost World, but lo and behold; there is a new
WiiWare game this week!

Get Even was changed to be released as a
WiiWare game, but additional levels had to be purchased as separate DLs.
You can download the PC, Mac or Linux version, or you can even
get it through
Wiiware to play on your Nintendo Wii.
Aside from Resident Evil 5, Capcom is in a revivalist mood of sorts having recently announced that MegaMan 9 will be coming to not only
WiiWare but also to the Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation Network, hopefully we will
get an announcement of its release date as well as pricing points.

We've already seen one major Wii revision this generation (which removed GameCube support, as you'll recall), and now we
get the Wii Mini which cuts Internet connectivity (and, by extension, the Wii Shop Channel with its Virtual Console titles and
WiiWare as well as Netflix / Hulu Plus and anything else requiring online access) and sports a manual top - loading disc drive.
Not to mention that the first title appeared on the
Wiiware service,
got pretty good scores on the service.
If
WiiWare developers release a game, and aren't
getting good sales on it, I would think dropping the price in some instances would help the game sell more, but Nintendo doesn't allow price drops on the
WiiWare service.
I've actually enjoyed the demo quite a lot, but apart from me being a bit turned off from buying
Wiiware I've still
got way too many games to play and finish.
Man, these demos have completely filled my SD card, so me being OCD, I've
got to spend some buck on a bigger SD card instead of a
WiiWare game or two (or three).
While it would be easy to pretend that this represents some David - v - Goliath - style revolution against the tyranny of the power three, the truth of the matter is that it's something they've all tried to
get behind and while Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade and Nintendo's
WiiWare have both done their part, it's Sony who have really lead the charge in this regard.
In an email to Nintendo World Report, Alex Neuse, developer at Gaijin Games, explained that the reason the game isn't coming to
WiiWare is because the game is
getting an HD overhaul and «the Wii can not handle the game.»
I have talked to a number of small - studio developers who made DSiWare /
WiiWare titles only to find that Nintendo did practically nothing to help them
get the word out.
Press Play wants to make sure everyone
gets a chance to play / buy Max & the Magic Marker, its physics - based puzzle - platormer that took home the D2D Vision Award at the Independent Games Festival last year, so it's expanded the game's support platforms to include
WiiWare, Windows, Mac, WP7, and now iOS.
With the advent of Xbox Live Arcade,
WiiWare and the PlayStation Network we're seeing a few new indy developers
getting into the game.
