Wenger's new dribble is to
get a good player early which will sweeten the hearts of fans, then pretend to be looking for other good signings till the transfer window slams down!

Xhaka is Arsenals one big big signing, they do this every year, they go
get one
good player early on whether we need them or not, we fans
get excited like more are to come, but sadly no.
I have a theory that teams who are forced to pick with less value do
better in later rounds because they
get good at it through practice and more focus on finding late round gems and diamonds in the rough — whereas teams with lots of high value picks naturally focus on the
early round
players where it's harder to whiff.
@john0711 I was asking of
players worse than Giroud for Arsenal in terms of finishing.I consisered finishing only.Out of your list when all are in form you can argue that Walcott is
better. But in terms of finishing he's the worst of that lot.Only Gervinho's finishing is worse. The guy doesn't deserve this club and so does many of our current
players.Face reality he's odinary and if you were a manager and wanted success would you put in a # 30 bid for Giroud?Yet his stats suggest he may be worth # 30 showing the contradiction between stats and real life. The
earlier we
get some average
players out of our club and stop defending the indefensible the
better for us all. With this kind of mentality success will be far from this club.
@Dandy Gunner I will tend to agree with you, but it is still
early... I know Wenger is known for not going the extra mile (s) in order to
get the
players «we really need» (Cech is a
good additon, a great addition, but we were not in need of another GK), I just hope, this time, it is the start of something effective.
It's difficult to blame Ozil for the difficulties he's faced at Arsenal without looking at the big picture... like the fans, he too was lied to by Wenger... there is no doubt in my mind that he was told by Wenger that he was trying desperately to recreate our
earlier success by acquiring
players that fit the system he ran when Henry was in his prime... as we know this hasn't happened... in order for Ozl to flourish he needs some speed up front, forwards that can make intelligent runs, a boss in the midfield to compensate for his obvious defensive liabilities and defenders who can transition from defence to offence quickly and efficiently... much like he had in Real and with the German National squad... unfortunately he ended up on a squad that has a striker who plays with his back to goal, very few intelligent runs into the box, minus Sanchez, no one to take pressure off him in the midfield, once Cazorla was injured, average defensive midfielders around him, which simply highlighted his lacking defensive qualities and defenders who lack the necessary cutting edge when it comes to transitional passing... instead of blaming Ozil, which is simply too easy, especially considering his mopey disposition, we should be asking ownership and / or Wenger why they brought him in if they didn't intend on doing what was necessary to
get the
best from him... can you imagine Ozil playing with the likes of Henry, Viera, Petit and Pires, it would be incredibly to watch and even more difficult to stop... so the only thing different between his experiences in Real and with the German team versus his time at Arsenal are the
players around him and we all know who is in charge of making those decisions, the Grinch who stole soccer
If Arsene Wenger really does know
best... bearing in mind the financial
well being of the club should NOT be his concern per sey why does he NOT
get involved in the transfer window
early and buy the
players that WE ALL know we need??? Yes he brought in Sanchez who has been brilliant yes he also brought in Ozil who for many has yet to convince, but we all see that more is needed and the lack of potential action is frustrating beyond belief.
Since we

The Gunners need an
early goal to quieten the home crowd and
get the nerves jangling among the Monaco
players so I expect to see an attacking line - up and despite how
well the team played against West Ham on Saturday, I do not think that Wenger will stick with the same starting XI.
Besiktas is a real threat to us specially this
early in the season with many
players not quite fit, it is important that we don't let Besiktas score even if it means 0 - 0 score line in Turkey, i am sure once we
get them in Emirates we will do
well.
I am sick to death of Bills taking corners

get 1 or 2 CB's.
Those three extra injuries made it 10 first team
players in the Arsenal treatment room, as you can see Just Arsenal's dedicated injury page, and suggested that the same old problems are coming back with a bang but as
early as last evening the news was
getting better.
Silver says that the NBA needs to «intersect» with high - end prospects

This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where
players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current
players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too
early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to
get himself in trouble when he
gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these
players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (
better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did
get a bit
better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive
players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a
player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the
players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this
player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3
players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we
get one of the most committed skill
players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a
player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our
best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6
players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
He is a
player who we can't afford to lose. The club knows this, the fans know this, and just as importantly so does Mesut Ozil. The fact that he will be in a position to
get himself a very nice Signing On Fee from whichever club he signs for after June means he will
get the financial rewards he always wanted.Who can blame him for
getting the very
best for himself. If his abilities had been appreciated by the club and management
earlier then the
player would have not been in the position we have now where the cards are all held by him.To keep him will cost the club a huge signing on fee and colloidal wages but that is the price we must pay.We need him so pay him provided it is what SVEN M and RAUL advise.Im sure the
player himself would be impressed that these 2 are involved and the whole structure of the club is moving forward.
sure uv
got som
good epl
players but wat is dere is a bunch of over hyped
players with a Wenger like coach at the helm... the
earlier they realise that, they sooner they start winning somtin
When Bellerin first came into the side he not only defended
well but was always so dangerous going forward. His pace and ability to go outside his marker gave us an attacking outlet that allowed us to play without a recognised right sided attacker which coincided with Walcott
getting less and less game time.We all thought this boy was going to turn into someone very special and so obviously did the management who apparently renewed his contract on a reputed # 100k per week. What have we seen since then?A
player that seems as indecisive and under coached as the rest of the defenders at the club.A
player that has rarely delivered a performance that reflected his initial
early form.A
player whose body language seems to display his displeasure at being at our club when Barcelona reputedly offered # 40m for him in the close season.
Mr Wenger
got probably the second
best squad of
players in the premier League all he have to do is improve on the way Arsenal play in term of consistancy, effectiveness, effeciency and control games in which they score very
early.
If there are
players you need and want surely it's
better to
get in
early?
Finally, and to reiterate an
earlier point, the way forward for this club is to stop paying below average bench
players so much money and to focus the bulk of the weekly wages on establishing a dominant starting 11... this will require the club to eat some wages in order to ship some
players out,
get rid of any deadwood over the age of 21, develop a cutting edge scouting service and put your money where your mouth is for once... I would much rather have a starting 11 that was world - class and give some reasonably paid young blue - chippers playing time when injuries occur than have 2 or 3 world class
players surrounded by a plethora of overpaid and underwhelming
players... management would no longer be able to sell their half - baked plans to the fans under the guise of «winning now», which any intelligent fan knows is a crap - shoot at
best, and instead create a a squad that provides hope for the present and the future... this is exactly the model that has been used by Barcelona, Real & Bayern, so it should be
good enough for us... by the way, until Messi & Ronaldo re-signed just recently all 3 clubs weekly wages were on par with ours... think about that for a second or two
Mourinho did the same last year with his Manchester United team when he knew
early on that there wasn't a chance they could win the League, but it is also a
good thing for
players who are going through fractional times to find the space and room to
get a breather from the League while focusing on Europa League in order to reconcile with each other, perhaps a few
players would then be happy to sign new contracts.

Nothing like one underachiever blowing smoke up the ass of another... we know that Ozil has some incredible technical gifts, but to be considered the
best you have to bring more than just assists to the table... for me, a top
player has to possess a more
well - rounded game, which doesn't mean they need to be a beast on both ends of the pitch, but they must have the ability to take their game to another level when it matters most... although he amassed some record - like stats
early on, it set the bar too high, so when people expected him to duplicate those numbers each year the pressure seemed to
get the
best of our soft - spoken star... obviously that's not an excuse for what has happened in the meantime, but it's important to make note of a few things: (1) his
best year was a transition year for many of the traditionally dominant teams in the EPL, so that clearly made the numbers appear
better than they actually were and (2) Wenger's system, or lack thereof, didn't do him any favours; by playing him out of position and by not acquiring world - class striker and / or right - side forward that would
best fit an Ozil - centered offensive scheme certainly hurt his chances to repeat his
earlier peformances, (3) the loss of Cazorla, who took a lot of pressure off Ozil in the midfield and was highly efficient when it came to
getting him the ball in space, negatively impacted his effectiveness and (4) he likewise missed a
good chunk of games and frankly never looked himself when he eventually returned to the field... overall the Ozil experiment has had mixed reviews and rightfully so, but I do have some empathy for the man because he has always carried himself the same way, whether for Real or the German National team, yet he has only suffered any lengthy down periods with Arsenal... to me that goes directly to this club's inability to surround him with the necessary
players to succeed, especially for someone who is a pass first type of
player; as such, this simply highlights our club's ineffective and antiquated transfer policies... frankly I'm disappointed in both Ozil and our management team for not stepping up when it counted because they had a chance to do something special, but they didn't have it in them... there is no one that
better exemplifies our recent history than Ozil, brief moments of greatness undercut by long periods of disappointing play, only made worse by his mopey posturing like a younger slightly less awkward Wenger... what a terribly waste
How I wish Arsenal had not sold Wellington Silva. The guy is a quality
player and would've been a
good option from the bench.I just don't
get why he was sold. His stats may not have been impressive but if you watch him he's really
good. The teams he was loaned out to
earlier hardly used him and I felt he had a future here.He just needed to step up his game to be world class. He never lost any of his dribbling and skills. He'd have been the
best at that if he was in Arsenal. He deserved his chance and is even
better than Joel Campbell who had many chances to prove himself.
He is great
player a
good Athlete and a very
good Anchorman he is an upgrade of Song he can
get the Job done, and like has been said
earlier he can also work
well with Coquelin to form a very robust midfield against Stubborn teams
«It is an advantage to
get them in
early because you go into the new season and you have an idea of what the
players are about, with whom they can integrate the team and do
well — overall I think it is a huge advantage.
An agent wants his now,
best case scenario is signing a major deal, then having that
player get cut
early to sign another deal.
But both Jackson and Melo did comeback after testing the waters
early and go further back so did Vasquez, so Maryland at least has a
good track record of
players testing the draft a year
early without

Alexis is a
good player.He was a massive
player for us last season.I remember during the
earlier stages of the season, Wenger changed the starting 11 just to
get the
best out of him.
Same shit every year, how can Wenger not see that if he doesn't change things (i.e some ambition, new transfers, rotation before someone
gets injured,
earlier subs when were behind etc) then the team will be going nowhere higher then 3rd place at
best... As much as the
players are making the mistakes on the pitch, it's Wenger who should be held 10x liable and it's Wenger who's the stubborn assh * le that thinks he knows everything.
maybe you don't understand that Wenger's words are simply an attempt to recover some of the market value that was lost due to the way they have mishandled his contract negotiations, which means that everyone, once again, knows that we have little to no leverage when it comes to negotiating a transfer... much like we did with RVP, when we sold the EPL trophy to ManU for less than $ 25 million... any reputable team with a sporting director would never have allowed this situation to occur again and if they had heads would roll... if handled correctly the worst case scenario would have seen us
get a minimum of $ 65 million for a
player of his ilk in the present economic climate and we could have used those funds to purchase the
best available striker in the
early days of the transfer window... just imagine what outsiders must think about the state of our team if all you did was read the headlines... sadly, things might just might be worse than they think
Liverpool's

Grabbing an
early lead is pivotal to Liverpool's chances of a revival, so if the likes of Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres don't
get off to a quick start on Sunday, three
players who should be fresher and
