Cant get shortening but can
get coconut butter (i.e. creamed coconut) which i have experimented with in the past.
I haven't tried it yet but if you whip dessicated coconut long enough, you will
get coconut butter.

I used
coconut oil instead of almond
butter because it «s difficult to
get here in Norway.
Once you've
got your mixture you need a lovely hot frying pan (critical for success) and a dollop of
coconut oil (or
butter if you tolerate dairy) to cook the pancakes in.
They include the incredibly powerful spirulina powder, bananas, peanut
butter (make sure you
get 100 %), and
coconut milk.
I made these today and they were a huge hit... crunchy, just sweet enough and totally satisfying I had a hard time
getting my peanut
butter (organic) to drizzle, so I added a little
coconut oil to it and that worked perfectly!
The other trick to this pastry is to grate the

butter plus a bit of watter just to make sure everything
got well combined.
However, if you add sea salt, a touch of maple sugar, and the crispy crunchy texture of toasted

butter ghee, not only do you have something that tastes good, but you have
got one unbeatable flavor combination.
