Unmanaged preeclampsia can prevent a developing fetus from
getting enough blood and oxygen, damage a mother's liver and kidneys, and, in rare cases, progress to
eclampsia, a much more serious condition involving seizures.
Excessive salivation in a post partum dog may be an indication of
eclampsia which is a medical emergency when circulating calcium levels
get dangerously low during nursing.
