While it's difficult to
get elite status with an airline unless you are a very frequent traveler, there are some credit cards that offer elite qualifying points as a sign - on bonus, such as the Platinum Delta SkyMiles ($ 195 annual fee) and Delta Reserve ($ 450 annual fee) American Express cards.
Following the recent announcement that members of Marriott Rewards, Ritz - Carlton Rewards and Starwood Preferred Guest can link their accounts to transfer points and
get elite status matches, the merged hotel giant has come out with a new double points promotion that starts next month.
Most of us will continue to
get our elite status from the IHG Rewards Club credit card and be content with the benefits of IHG Platinum status.
It was a decent number of trips, probably more than I've taken before in a single year, though obviously it was not enough to
get elite status in any program — especially because I diversified my hotel stays among a few different programs based on which had the lowest rates.
With the AA card, which rental company do

A drawback of making reservations at chain hotels through Hotels.com is that you typically don't
get elite status benefits.
So, I can still
get the elite status I need for a free upgrade, and I can tack on a few short vacations for the same additional price as purchasing a Y - Up fare.
I also like using Avios because American is my preferred airline and I can still
get my elite status benefits (like priority boarding and better seat selection) on a partner award ticket.
The biggest issues are that you probably won't earn any credits for nights or stays and that you might not
get your elite status perks honored.
Also keep in mind that you can also
get elite status at Hilton through credit card.
Finally, you'll
get elite status with Avis, National, and Silvercar car rentals.
One of the most attractive things about this card is that you can
get elite status and enjoy special treatment at all the Hilton hotels.
You can even
get elite status with hotel loyal programs if you have the right card.
SPG doesn't offer status matches where you can
get your elite status matched from another program but they do offer status challenges where you can obtain a certain elite status level by booking a certain number of stays or nights in a designated time period.

You won't earn Marriott points when you book through online travel agencies (OTAs) but you can still
get your elite status perks honored.
In addition to lounge access and airline and Global Entry fee credits, you'll also
get elite status with a variety of hotel and rental card programs, such as Hilton, SPG, IHG, Hertz and Avis.
If you travel often with the same airline, it would make more sense to sign up for frequent flyer programs as you could
get elite status with the airline and reap even more benefits.
I'll also
get some elite status with Hertz.
You'll also
get elite status (which includes similar perks) when you use your Reserve card to book 2 nights over the course of 12 months at Relais & Châteaux properties through Visa Infinite Concierge.
The beauty of this promotion is that you can earn tier miles also which can help
you get elite status quickly.

Dear Cashing In, I just found out that the miles that I'm getting on my card don't help
me get elite status on my airline's frequent flier program.
Note: Even though
you get elite status in both programs, you can only credit nights to either Marriott or SPG, and the company has said it does not plan to combine its programs in the near future.

If you want travel benefits: American Express Platinum The Starwood card makes it easier to
get elite status, but wouldn't it be nice if there were a card that just gave it to you?
There are many ways to get to first class without breaking the bank, including using frequent flyer miles to purchase your flights or
getting elite status on a particular airline to get complementary upgrades on every flight.
Third, I like that the card automatically
gets me elite status with Hertz, National, and Avis along with a small discount.
If you've
got elite status, those fees are often reduced or waived.
If you're on your honeymoon, you definitely want to mention that when making your reservations or arriving at the hotel, because it will often end up with an upgrade but if you've
got elite status with that hotel, that upgrade might be even better.
While this isn't technically a fee, some cards may help you accrue enough credits to jump - start your path to
getting elite status.
The best route is through paid stays, taking advantage of frequent promotions, and
getting elite status to earn a higher percentage of points.
