It can be very worrying trying to
get enough milk into our babies but our bodies are fantastic!

I also make a protein «pudding» and just mix
milk into it until it
gets thick
enough to eat with a spoon.
I am fortunate
enough that I don't have to follow either diet, but recently I have really
gotten into almond
milk.
1/8 cup whey protein (I used our awesome one - ingredient Pow whey) 1/8 cup ground hazelnuts (could also use ground almonds) 1 tbsp almond
milk (
enough to bind the ingredients
into a dough) 2 tbsp chocolate nut butter spread (note: I used Meridian's new chocolate hazelnut spread!!!! If you don't have it, you can just use any chocolate - flavoured spread or Nutella but consider
getting it if you can, it's really good!)

When the baby is not
getting enough milk bowel movements are small and infrequent so that the bilirubin that was in the baby's gut
gets reabsorbed
into the blood instead of being passed in bowel movements.
Not only was I engorged, with a cheap breast pump by my side that wouldn't
get my
milk out good, my nipples were starting to crack because I couldn't stuff
enough of my breast
into my baby's mouth in order for him latch on good.
If you are concerned that your baby is not
getting enough milk from your breasts, then you can pump your breast
milk into a bottle and give it to your baby, so you can know how much
milk she is
getting.
There are also a lot of «boobie traps» that people fall
into early on in the nursing relationship such as being told they aren't producing
enough milk, or thinking that pump output is an indicator of the amount of breastmilk their child is
getting.
To
get enough milk, the baby must therefore take
enough of the breast
into her mouth so as to empty the lactiferous sinuses with her tongue.
