For some reason, most people will go carpet shopping at the end of the year, but wait until January and you'll
get that area rug,
new wood floor, or wall - to - wall carpeting for cheaper.
I purchased a house in 2008, and did many updates to it over the last 7 years (
new water heater, privacy fence, hot tub,
wood floors, lighting, insulation, plumbing, windows... you
get the picture).

I have a couple rooms I would LOVE some help with and actually have a small budget to do the work I have a library that is freshly painted but needs the shelves and a window seat built in and some chairs placed... I have an upstairs living room that needs
new furniture and wall paint because it is the friend entertainment center for 2 teenage girls and one wants an updated look (she just
got a
new dresser, desk and chair for her bedroom from maru at urbanfarmgirl, to give you an idea of her clean style) and then I have the longest running project ever, the laundry room, that needs beadboard, a painted
wood floor and a work area for momma.
This week they delivered boxes of
new wood so they can
get acclimated to the temperature of our house, and contractors are taking out all the existing
flooring and carpet to prepare for the installation of the
new flooring.
Even though it was the plans to makeover the living room that
got the whole house makeover rolling, ultimately the
new wood floors ended up being enough to make us love being in that room again, no matter what furniture is in the room!
Traditional
wood floors get a
new spin with the planks laid in a simple herringbone design.
All of the
wood, chair rail, baseboards, crown moulding and trim
got painted, and we laid
new wood floors.
We are
getting new flooring in the kitchen (a beautiful greige looking
wood), but unfortunately we can not afford to replace the carpet in the living room and dining room quite yet.
