Aladdin came at the right
time for Disney, capitalizing on the worldwide popularity of Robin Williams and widespread enjoyment of hand - drawn animation months after Beauty and the Beast became the first such film to
get a Best Picture
nomination at the Oscars.

time how absolutely wild it is that Plummer is probably going to
get an Oscar
nomination this year!)
There are also a number of younger directors still making plenty of films that have yet to
get a best directing award — Ridley Scott has been nominated 3
times (Thelma and Louise, Gladiator and Black Hawk Down), Terrence Malick has been nominated 2
times (Tree of Life, The Thin Red Line, Paul Thomas Anderson has been nominated once (There Will Be Blood) and Tim Burton has never received a directing
nomination.

get their Oscar

My assumption is that no Academy voters actually saw Your Name at that

Sure, Les Miserables
got eight
nominations, including the expected acting nods for Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway, and Daniel Day - Lewis is poised to make history as the first - ever three -
time winner of the Best Actor Oscar, this
time for a performance in Lincoln that ranks among his very best.
Coming - of - age drama «Call Me by Your Name» has scored six Spirit Award
nominations, with «Good
Time» and «
Get Out» taking five each.
The last
