but all recipes in the booklet are with cow's milk and I don't know where to start nor what bacteria to add and where to
get them... I might enquire at the shop as I am going to buy the
psyllium husk powder to make for the first time your lovely looking bread, but I trust your food and health knowledge now so much.
I actually bought some
psyllium husk powder after I posted this but have still not tried it... guess I should
get on that, lol!
ALTERNATIVE TO
Psyllium Husk Powder: 1T soy Lechithin (
get at health food / organic markets), OR boil 1 / 4c of flaxseeds - raw - in 1c of water, and when it cooks, the gel on top of the water is egg - yolk consistency and is a substitute.
FYI, my local Earth Fare store has
psyllium husks in their bulk spice section so you can
get just what you need.
Now I'm super mad at myself, though... I have everything but the
psyllium seed
husks and I was just at TJs this morning so I could have
gotten some.
Thankfully, if you aren't allergic to
psyllium husk, you can
get the same results as chia seeds.
I like to add
psyllium husk powder to your cream cheese pancakes on occasion, to thicken them up, and
get things, ahem, moving along nicely.
Everything should be available at Bi-Rite, though I am not sure about the
psyllium husk which you can definitely
get at Whole Foods.
