Even with campaigns in full swing for The Big Sick and
Get Out, among others, the acting
categories (with the exception of
Supporting Actress) are looking very... white.
The former grabbed 6 nods, including a surefire Best Actress bid for the sadly Oscar - snubbed Kristin Scott Thomas, while I'm pleased to see her wonderful co-star, Elsa Zylberstein, finally
getting some awards love in the
supporting category.
Stranger still, the Screen Actors Guild still don't have a
supporting category for their Series or TV Movie / Miniseries
categories so we often
get supporting players bumped up to the main
category.
Breaking Dawn — Part 2 was nominated in every single
category, and in addition to Worst Picture it
got awards for Worst Actress (Kristen Stewart), Worst
Supporting Actor (Taylor Lautner), Worst Screen Couple (Lautner and Renesmee actor Mackenzie Foy), Worst Screen Ensemble, Worst Director (Bill Condon), and Worst Remake / Rip - Off - or Sequel.
