In her July 5 remarks to the National Education Association, Hillary Clinton told
teachers, «we need to be serious about raising your pay... no
educator should have to take second
and third jobs just to
get by.»
But not for all the usual reasons that people raise concerns: the worry about whether we've
got good measures of
teacher performance, especially for instructors in subjects other than reading
and math; the likelihood that tying achievement to evaluations will spur teaching to the test in ways that warp instruction
and curriculum; the futility of trying to «principal - proof» our schools by forcing formulaic, one - size - fits - all evaluation models upon all K — 12 campuses; the terrible timing of introducing new evaluation systems at the same time that
educators are working to implement the Common Core.

Teachers are at varying stages in their degrees of knowledge and «sophistication» with regard to education technology and the traditional «sit and get» sessions can be valuable for those teachers who are not yet ready to become Connected Ed

educators from one school to work with those from another isn't easy, especially when tight budgets in many states lead to demands to focus spending «in the classroom» rather than on planning

As the education director, Sand has many responsibilities, including «talking to

and doing coaching,
teacher trainings, workshops,
and conferences; doing research for
and helping produce curricula; supporting the group's regional directors around the United States;
and getting out the word about the project.

getting too far into the weeds
and away from the students we're all working to support.
