We're really
getting into winter now and I find that one of the ways I stay happy about
colder, darker days is by
getting excited about warming winter
foods and that starts with soup!
While we don't mind eating leftover supper for breakfast and leftover lunch for supper we eat a variety of
foods depending on the season (the vegetables in our veg box change every week so we
get the variety without too much planning on our part) and how we're feeling — so if we're
cold and tired then we prefer cooked
food and when it's hot we enjoy plenty of raw
foods.
Normally, this alone is enough to
get me craving a hot bowl of soup but, add in the fact that I'm fighting a stubborn
cold that just won't go away, and it's pretty much guaranteed there's going to be some sort of comfort
food happening here and this was exactly what I needed.
Brian had his meal from the hot
food bar, I
got mine from the
cold food bar.
The meal options I came up with had to be: # 1 things that would be fairly easy to prepare (I wasn't about to take an extra hour on Sunday to make something elaborate), # 2 had to be
foods I could easily manipulate the nutritional profile for (ensuring a balance of protein, carbs, and fat), # 3 the
food had to store well in the fridge or freezer, # 4 they had to reheat well in either the toaster or microwave OR be eaten
cold right from the fridge, and # 5 ideally, they needed to be things she could easily eat in the car on the way to school (remember, it takes us at least 20 minutes with no traffic to
get to school so eating in the car gives us even MORE time to sleep lol).
I do have a really decent sourdough pizza crust going lately but given this dreary,
cold, late winter season, my own personal need for comfort
foods in the way of pancakes, and past history of pancakes making quite the meal to share with others, this quick little bread - based meal is one I hope you

You can usually

But it's
getting warm now in Australia which means I've started craving
cold foods.
It is

I suppose if you don't grow up eating such things it might seem strange — a creamy mixture of cubed

food, and loneliness did they have to endure just to
get a few seconds of incredible pictures?
One of winter's redeeming qualities is the comfort
food it inspires, so if eating

Get your child through the
cold and flu season... Naturally!
My son is 7 mths and he was sleeping thru the night for several months and then about 2 mths ago
got a yucky
cold and began waking up at night and I would «nurse» him and he would fall fast asleep:) But now he is long over his
cold, has
food and milk all day long but still wakes during the night to nurse.
I finish as fast as possible and take the kids back from whomever's
food is
getting cold.
She'd argue, let her
food get cold and I'd find myself once again having to spoon feed her, with gritted teeth, until she was done.
My in - laws invited themselves to stay with us to «help out» when my daughter was born, and whenever they'd make a meal, if I wasn't at the table because I was nursing, or if I had to go sit elsewhere to nurse, I'd either not
get fed at all, or my plate would be cleared because they were done and cleaning up (i.e. «helping out»), and I'd have to fish
cold food out of the fridge later.
