even if you eat a bunch of protein, you'll have a hard time packing on mass without
getting enough calories down.

The most important factors when considering vegan protein sources come
down to making sure you
get enough calories overall and a wide variety of amino acids.
Perhaps a pristine diet is the path to true health, and we've all just missed it because we restricted macronutrients or didn't eat
enough, which takes any benefits you might
get from a perfect diet and completely flushes them
down the drain, as
calories and carbs trump clean, nutritious eating every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
And so if patients start feeling tired, one of the first things we'll do is we'll throw their food diary into a MyFitnessPal just to one,
get a look at their macros, but two, to make they're
getting enough calories in because no matter what you're doing, with the mitochondrial, adrenal, or thyroid support, if you're doing low
calorie, you're telling your epigenome that you are in a — a famine, starvation, let's tone
down the energy, let's tone
down the — the fuel going out because we
got ta — we
got ta conserve.
When we are unable to
get enough thyroid hormone within the cell, our cellular activity slows
down and we burn less
calories and store more fat.
Now you could argue that this could've all been due to me not eating
enough calories, especially since I was doing Crossfit and Training BJJ at the time, but after just 30 days of adding in a bit more carbs (because of the keto rash) I
got another blood test and my Free T3 increased to 3.1 and TSH decreased
down to 1.82.
I
got down to 114, which I loved, but since then I've gained a little, but I've also upped my
calories, however not
enough to warrant a lot of weight gain I would think.

My problem was (and this is prior to the points plus program) when I
got down to 20 lbs from my goal weight I had uncontrollable cravings and because I my points were so low (I found out later I was only eating about 1200
calories vs my body size was supposed to be closer to 1600
calories) I was never able to eat
enough while still maintaining the points.
So, that may be a good first start moving into what I'm saying, but I predicted most people are gonna be able to do what I'm saying, and probably do better because they're gonna
get enough calories, because when you're not
getting enough calories, you're sending stress signals to your body to turn
down the thyroid hormone.
