There's nothing
new to report about the Kindle's software or internal hardware, which as best as we can tell without tearing the thing apart is identical to what you
get on «7th generation» Kindles like the
Voyage and the latest Paperwhite.
I sold my
Voyage to
get the
new Oasis (bad idea) and I miss it.
i WOULD likely hold off until the
new Kindle
Voyage is released and
get that, it will cost more, but for all sense and purposes its the upgraded paperwhite 2
Amazon is almost certainly
getting ready to push the launch button on its next - generation Kindle dedicated e-reader hardware, and
new leaks from the site's German and Japanese stores (via The Verge) reveal it will likely be called the Kindle
Voyage, and sport a
new high - res display and bezels that can be pressed to turn pages.
I think Amazon should discontinue the
Voyage, their portfolio is
getting cluttered with too many devices and it is hampering the development of
new firmware updates.
Considering the fact that it was just released last year and is
newer than both the Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle
Voyage, it seems unlikely that Amazon would
get rid of the Oasis line entirely at this point.
Currently the only way to
get a discount is with the
new Voyage essentials bundle that takes $ 30 off, and the refurbished
Voyages are $ 169.
If there was a
new Paperwhite or a
Voyage 2 I'd probably
get one.
I hope they release info about a
new model before I go on vacation in a month because I'm sick of Amazon's treatment of the Kindle product line the past three years (basically same Paperwhite over that time,
Voyage almost
getting there but not waterproof, Oasis a ridiculously overpriced piece of garbage).
It won't do many things that another Kindle won't (the interface is virtually identical to the other
new models) but if you want to
get the words from the author's pen into your eyes the sleekest way possible, the Kindle
Voyage is the way to do it.
You'll be stuck on version 5.4.4, whereas the
new Paperwhite, Kindle
Voyage, and the most recent low - end Kindle will all
get 5.6.1.
The Kobo Aura H2O is the latest ebook reader from Kobo, and while the Kindle Paperwhite isn't
new, it's still apart of Amazon's lineup moving forward, so let's do a comparison review between the two today, and then compare them with the Kindle
