From a theological standpoint, it is the pervasive sense
of gift which permeates both grief and guilt and opens the triad
of grief, guilt,
gift to a glimpse
of the womb -
love of God.
It takes an adult self - consciousness — the experience
of an adult living and trying to believe but knowing doubt, trying to do the right thing but knowing failure, trying to be confident but sensing despair — to also know that there is a part
of God that helps us through those obstacles, a part
which is different from God's
love or Christ's
gift of salvation.
The more we
love life and are grateful for the
gift of life, the more sensitive we are to the ways in
which life is curtailed and distorted.
I give to you what I give to no one else, and that is my seed, my procreative power,
which, united to your seed, can incarnate our
love, take on flesh that will be the living fruit
of our
love, the proof also that we want our
love to be a

Grace prompts communion in
love that terminates in the
gift of perfect union,
which we call the Beatific Vision.
Further, they should be able to understand the
loving and unique significance
of conjugal intercourse,
which lies not mainly in the pleasure it may give the spouses, but in the unparalleled way by
which it expresses the total and exclusive self -
gift they made to one another in marrying.
But just because
of this it does not give man a claim on God, because it is itself God's
gift to man if it is done in a
love in
which man sees only God and not himself.
He can — out
of his mercy and
love — offer to free you from this punishment —
which is what He offered through Jesus Christ — but He can not force you to accept the offer — He can not force grace upon you, just like you can not force someone to accept a free
gift.

Nature is usually seen as a system
which can be studied, understood and controlled, whereas creation can only be understood as a
gift from the outstretched hand
of the Father
of all, and as a reality illuminated by the
love which calls us together into universal communion.
