Almost tempted to take off a star for
the gimmicky use of music (Cameron Crowe said that he actually starts writing a film around a song he likes) but it all works so well, and the cast is fabulous: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Frances McDormand, even Kate Hudson, more than almost.
The soundmix feels a bit more modern than the cinematography, with a wiretapping making
gimmicky use of the discrete surrounds, the various gunshots packing a wallop, and Alberto Iglesias's conspiracy - jazz score enveloping the viewer.
There's a certain obviousness to a poor sales pitch, one that turns many account manager resumes from a convincing brand statement into something that sounds more suited to
