I studied multiple different recipes
on the internet for huli huli
sauce and saw a few commonalities: soy
sauce, pineapple juice and / or pureed pineapple, ketchup, brown sugar,
ginger and garlic, and vinegar.
Directions: Using a mortar and pestle, or a small grinder, mix garlic,
ginger and half of the peanut oil to form a thick paste / Add other spices, half of the water (1/2 C) to this mix, stir together and set aside / In a
sauce pan, heat the other tablespoon of oil to medium hot, add cumin and mustard seeds and allow them to sizzle momentarily / Add spice paste, turn heat to medium low, and while stirring, allow to cook for 1 to 2 minutes / Add cauliflower and potatoes, sweet or hot pepper if using / Stir together so that vegetables are coated with the spices / Add the other 1/2 C water, place a lid
on, and simmer for 10 — 15 minutes, until vegetables are tender / Remove lid and simmer for another 5 minutes / If vegetables are done, remove them from the pan and continue to simmer the
sauce until it reduces and thickens slightly — just a minute or two / Add roasted asparagus to the bowl / Spoon
sauce over winter and spring veggies, sprinkle with chives.

The main course consisted of classic Siberian pel» meni dumplings, with two separate stuffings: «Forest dumplings» with venison and blueberries, garnished with butter and sour cream; and «Far Eastern dumplings» filled with salmon, green onions, and fresh

sauce or black vinegar to sprinkle

I got my favorite, misir watt (the bigger dish
on the right: red lentil stew with onion, berbere,
ginger, garlic, and cardamom), with sides of dinich watt (far left: potatoes in garlic, tomato, and berbere
sauce) and yekik watt (in the middle: yellow split peas with
ginger, turmeric, and garlic).
Kelsey's crunchy sesame
ginger chicken is smothered in a (slightly sticky) sweet and spicy
sauce that's so addictive you'll want to retire that Chinese - takeout number you have
on speed dial.

The
sauce is thick and glossy with an authentic blend of flavours, the fresh,
ginger, tahini and tamari give it a wonderfully nutty yet Asian inspired taste and the lemon and apple cider vinegar kick it up a notch with a gentle buzz
on the taste buds.
My ultimate go - to is a quinoa bowl with a
ginger - sesame dressing — I just lightly sauté whatever veggies I have
on hand, brown some tofu or tempeh or throw in some beans, and toss with a bunch of quinoa and my favourite dressing (roughly equal parts maple syrup, soy
sauce, and lime juice to two parts tahini, some grated
ginger and garlic, and cayenne to taste).

sauce pot heat stick of butter
on medium heat until melted and browned.

first fry some garlic,
ginger, ground coriander, turmeric powder and cashews
on olive oil, add any combination of vegetables (sweet or semisweet work well, like celery, fennel, but also zucchini,...), then soy
sauce and juice of one small orange per person - grapefruits or tangerimes work wonderfully too - cook for a minute or two, then remove from heat and stir in the couscous.

Add to the Dutch oven
ginger, onions, spices wrapped in a cheese cloth and tied with kitchen twine, sugar, fish
sauce, salt and simmer uncovered
on medium low heat for 2 - 3 hours.
Once you have your sriracha
