girls in Afghanistan are being attacked with acid for the crime of
going to school, and until being a Christian is synonymous with doing something about these things, you can also call me a feminist.

These beautiful
girls went from barely being able to move
in a cage
in a factory farm to a big beautiful coop with plenty of space to roam (30 square feet per chicken to be accurate, even though the area we
live in requires only 10 square feet per chicken for a backyard coop — obviously still a huge improvement from a tiny cage).
And keep it
going, as research clearly shows that
girls whose fathers engage them
in sports grow up to enjoy better fitness, stronger self images, and healthier, lasting relationships later on

These messages, to
girls and boys, have ramifications that
go way beyond bad dates
in our youth — it impacts the way we approach and maintain our romantic relationships throughout

Things have been a bit hectic
in the Mum's the Word house since Sausage
went back to school; first, the
girls were poorly (tonsilitis), then I was poorly (gall bladder) and then the car decided to
go kaput, leaving us unable to make regular trips to the shops, so we were
living on what we had
in the cupboards and as a result, my slow cookers have been rather neglected!
Our
lives are so busy now that the
girls are
in school — there's school, homework, activities, playdates, plus computers, iPods, and other technology distractions... So it's wonderful to take Sundays off to
go slowly, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time as a family, with few interruptions.

If a

in her
life knows that she can
go to her parents with whatever is on her mind, then she will feel more confident
in herself to get the help she needs, or to make the best decision
in whatever situation she is facing at that time.
