The Catholic Conference has supported the elimination of the criminal statute of limitation on
child sex abuse cases and extending the civil time frame, though it's not clear whether it would agree to Cuomo's plan to
give victims 50 years from the attacks.
Steve Jimenez, a
child sex abuse survivor and former journalist who is now an advocate, said that provision is crucial to the bill, because in addition to
giving survivors their day in court, it also could help reveal the names of abusers who are still committing crimes.

Child sex abuse victims deserve justice, and this bill will help them find their voice and
give them the courage to come forward,» said Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D - Bronx).
The bill would
