Now, I know that these aren't as successful as they used to be, because a) there are so many books
free all the time and b) everyone's got
Kindles fit to burst and only download the ones they really fancy reading, now — but if you're on KDP and your book isn't selling, why not
give it a whirl?

free ePub or MOBI file, so they're conveniently compatible with virtually all ereaders and reading apps, including
Kindles.

free has done two things for me: increased my monthly income by an awful lot, and increased the number of people with my books on their
kindle.

During Alpha (sign up quick because it'll be limited to a 1000 or so users)-- A
free kindle given out — that's 1 out of 1000 or so people getting a
Kindle — pretty good odds.
Amazon will not be
giving the
kindle away for
free to carphone warehouse, although im sure they will be getting less on the
free than the retail price.
But if someone (I've no idea who)
gives me a
free book, I just go «meh» and put it on my
kindle to read when I have time.
Once rooted you are
free to install other ebook readers, I have the
kindle app, Nook app, FBreader (which has a wide selection of
free and paid books and can handle PDF files with a plug in) and the Kobo reader,
giving me access to a wide gamut of readers and stores.
Why stop so short, when the complete application really needs to add text to speech functionality, so many software for
free available out there, please,
give us a complete
kindle with text to speech capability, think about how many life could be changed, especially those in the campus and technology area.
It was good to them for its own purposes,
giving them stuff for
free it makes publishers pay for, because then those self - pub authors and all their buddies would buy
Kindles, and would be loyal customers who buy other stuff from Amazon that brings in more money.
I've also tried
giving my ebook away at BookLikes (7 people requested it after a month of trying to
give away 20
kindle gift copies), through Goodreads blog posts & group giveaway posts, Twitter, Facebook, LibraryThing etc. and almost no one wants a
free ebook from an unknown author (even with lots of awards AND a Publishers Weekly Starred Review).
And it can't write off that loss with profits from sold - at - cost
Kindles and
given - away - for -
free Kindle apps.
