giving ketoconazole and seek emergency veterinary medical attention; an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; hives); or liver damage (yellowish eyes, abdominal pain, unusual fatigue, or dark urine).
Before
giving ketoconazole, tell your veterinarian about any medications you are giving your pet, especially; cyclosporine (Neoral), methylprednisolone (Medrol), antacids, cimetidine (Tagamet), Nizatidine (Axid), famotidine (pepcid), ranitidine (Zantac), omeprazole (Prilosec), lansoprazole (Prevacid), rabeprazole (Aciphex), digoxin (Lanoxin), warfarin (Coumadin), phenytoin (Dilantin), glipizide (Glucotrol).
Fully disclose to your veterinarian any medications your pet is taking before
giving ketoconazole.
Do not
give ketoconazole within 2 hours of an antacid.
Give ketoconazole with a fatty meal to reduce stomach upset and increase absorption.
If any of the following side effects occur, continue to
give ketoconazole and talk to your veterinarian; nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; diarrhea; headache; dizziness; fatigue; itching.
Give ketoconazole exactly as directed by your veterinarian.

Ketoconazole anti-fungal medication, Mebendazole (Flagyl), anti-tumor medications, Methoyflurane anesthetic, Phenobarbital or primadone
given for sezures, sulfonamide antibiotics and tetracycline.
Itraconazole and
ketoconazole may need their dose adjusted if they are
given at the same time as ranitidine.
These drugs should not be
given with
ketoconazole: astemizole, cisapride and terfenadine.
Ketoconazole should be
given with food.
As with all prescribed medicines,
ketoconazole should only be
given to the dog / cat for which it was prescribed.
If your pet has been
given an overdose of
ketoconazole, contact your veterinarian or emergency veterinary clinic immediately.
Do not
give fluconazole to any pets who are sensitive or allergic to other «azole» antifungal medications, such as
