The crock is easier to fill and empty and the sauerkraut gets better pressure using the plate as opposed to the bag of water in
the glass jar method.

jar, and shake vigorously until combined (my preferred
method — less cleanup, and its own storage container).
A more secure
method to store them at room temperature is to keep them in
glass jars with a tight - fitting, rubber - sealed top.
I updated this
method by saying you need a 1 gallon
glass jar instead of a 2 gallon
glass jar!
To get the temperature just right, I remove the lid from my
jar of coconut butter and put it into an oven set on the lowest setting (please note: your
jar HAS to be
glass for this
method to work), for about 10 minutes.

method of sauerkraut - making is done in a simple
glass jar.
Place the
glass jar in a small saucepan with an inch of water and cook on low for 10 - 15 minutes (see pg 116 of «31 Days to Detoxify Your Life» for detailed instructions on using the double boiler
method).
I'd probably hunt down some bottles of both
method's nourishing hand wash and the
glass - cleaner to give to my parents who need to be shown the value in natural prducts still:) Then some
glass jars as I seem to have lost one of my two.

This
method takes a little time and know - how but more practically, a pressure cooker,
glass jars, and lids.
