Would we buy a fluorescent bulb to replace the burnt - out soft -
glo light in the den?
No, they did not hit a home run but it is a good e-reader with some good points and a definite improvement over the Simple Touch with
Glo Light.
The glo light is perfect battery lasts me a month.
I would love to own a NOOK ereader since it supports a somewhat local brand and
the glo light is lovely to hold and read on, but for me the problem is the uber locked garden of B&N.
I also have borrowed a Kindle without front light from my library and have looked at the Nook
glo light in the B&N store.
I pre-ordered
the Glo light 3 but before opening the box visited Barnes & Noble today and was very pleased.

I decided to order the Kobo
Glo, mostly because of the
light but i've to say your review helped.
Light, higher resolution, no fuzziness while moving a touch - and - squeeze pdf image, but you left off what's most important to me: can I take the 500 free ebooks on my SD card I've gotten from Project Gutenberg.org and elsewhere and read them on the
Glo HD?
Additionally, the
GLO has a front -
lit display, allowing you to read in the dark, while the Touch does not.
A couple freezes that I would fix with the paper clip reset, sometimes when reading and turning a page, two pages would turn forcing me to turn one back etc... Now with firmware 2.5 I have a new glitch, whenever I keep my Kobo
light on at the lowest power level, if I turn off the
light with the button on top of the
Glo, it won't turn back on.
The Kobo
glo's
lighting is very uniform and pleasant.
It is a wonderful unit and if «new and improved» versions of
lighted readers come out within the next year... I like this one so much that it would really take a LOT of «bling and new features» to get me to replace the
Glo.

Press and HOLD the
light button while turning on the
Glo.
Ok as it turns out, the latest release of the Kobo
Glo firmware, namely 2.5.1 has fixed this issue with the
light.
The Aura one has this feature but it's possibly too expensive for most and it could be the
glo HD isn't getting this software update so I'd be tempted by this model for this reason combined with the new
light feature.
The Kobo
Glo HD is smaller and
lighter than the Paperwhite 3.
While I much prefer the format options of the Kobo
Glo, I'm a little concerned about the blueish
light for night time reading before sleep.
Instead of the
light projecting at you, like tablets do, the
Glo evenly distributes the
light on the screen from the bottom of the bezel.
It also sports a front -
lit screen, much akin to the Kobo
Glo.
From what I've read the
Glo has only the front
light feature going for it.
The
Glo was always strongly
lit along the edges, but none of that effect was in evidence here.
I was going to get the
Glo for it's front
light, but after reading about Kobo's software shortcomings and potential crashes and customer service, I am going to stick with my Sony PRS - T2.
I'm Canadian and was «forced» to buy the Kobo
Glo but actually I'm quite impressed by its

I found the
light in the Bookeen model does not give you the pure white screen that the Kindle Paperwhite provides, but is a little bit better than the Kobo
Glo.

I spent all day loading it up with books and trying it out and I must say that I actually really like the warmer

Glo HD.
The Kobo
Glo HD does not have a
light sensor but they do have a very novel feature.
In the specifications on the manufacturer's website says that the Wi - Fi off and
lighting a single charge should last an average of one month of reading (for models Kobo mini, Kobo touch, Kobo
glo) and two months of reading model Kobo aura.
Measuring 10 mm in depth and weighing 182g, the Kobo
Glo is
lighter than the Kindle Paperwhite.
The Kobo
Glo costs # 10 less than the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, it's
lighter and offers comparable ereader skills.
Kobo has included a little button on the top edge of the
Glo, which lets you quickly turn the
light on and off.
The Kobo
Glo is rated for around 70 hours of use with the
light at 15 - 20 percent, which is easily bright enough to read with in the dark — maximum brightness is way too bright for night - time reading.
Like the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and Nook GlowLight, the Kobo
Glo features a front -
lit screen, letting you read in the dark without a bedside
light.
Where the Kindle fires upwards from the bottom of the screen, the Kobo
Glo fires downwards from the top, and the
light dispersion isn't completely consistent.
When nighttime inevitably arrives each sign has the same front -
lit technology found on the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite or the Kobo
Glo HD.
It will use the same type of Front -
Light technology found in the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, Kobo

Amazon has maintained the same type of glowing LED
lights built into the bezel as the Kobo
Glo does.
This is useful if you have the
Glo function constantly enabled, since really dark text tends to stand out more than
lighter text.
If it doesn't have an integrated front -
lighting system like the Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo
Glo, I'm going to buy a Kindle.
