We can change this attitude and grow the number of students invested in language learning by changing perceptions about the value of
global education in general.
What we don't reflect on enough is how some educators are connected to the global community, emerging trends and research, and larger conversations around reform and the direction of
global education in general — and how so many other educators are simply not tapped into that world.

Last weekend, at the Celebration of Teaching and Learning, surrounded by educators, representatives from the nonprofit and business worlds,
global education experts, academics, and
education advocates of all stripes, I found it inspiring how committed the group as a whole was to not just improving family engagement
in schools, but expanding engagement beyond the family, to the community
in general.
