Global and regional health effects of future
food production under climate change: a modelling study» by Marco Springmann et al. published in The Lancet on Wednesday 2 March.
Under one scenario, the researchers projected that
global food production could fall by 15 percent, but when they accounted for large emissions decreases, that figure shrank to a 9 percent drop in
food production.
A growing number of studies suggest that
global food production could take a big hit
under 3 °C or 4 °C of warming.
The joint study, published by the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT)
under the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and
Food Security (CCAFS), models the
global suitability of arabica cultivation to see how
production will be affected in 2050.
His current research includes a
global assessment of the sustainability of future
food production under socioeconomic and climate change, and water scarcity.
