Michael Crichton did not convince me of the premise that man - made

Umm... there is,
in fact, a vast preponderance of evidence indicating CO2 contributes substantially to
global warming, and there is almost universal consensus on ths among those with relevant education (and those willingness to reconsider personal dogmas based on
fear when confronted with undeniable evidence).
Crichton stirred the climate debate with a 2004 novel, State of
Fear,
in which the bad guys were radical environmentalists trying to scare the world about
global warming in order to line their pockets.
The
fear is that this could lead to a vicious spiral - fewer trees to soak up CO2 means more
global warming gases
in the air, which means higher temperatures and therefore fewer trees.
But the report, signed by Kevin H. Winters, assistant inspector general for investigations, criticized what it said was a sustained pattern of activities, largely supervised by senior political appointees, that included muting or withholding news releases on
global warming and, at least
in Dr. Hansen's case, limiting a scientist's interactions with reporters for
fear that he might stray into discussing policies at odds with those of the White House.
Its time for the media to stop using the
fear factor to engage the public
in taking on
global warming and start writing about the positive, exciting, financially beneficial future we can create.

People hear from the people who are fully vested
in the position of making a bundle off of this
fear based
Global Warming Situation and they take it at face value that what has been presented is paramount to anything else heard from anyone else closing themselves off to any other logical point of view.
I believe that any effort to refute
global warming based on observations, will fail,
in light of
fear of the potential.
Ironically, during the 1970s while some (including NASA's James Hansen) were hysterically promoting the schizoid
fears of a new ice age hitting the world
in a few decades, a new frenzy over
Global Warming and Climate Change was just beginning at Scripps Ocenaographic Institute
in San Diego, CA.
