There are
gluten free bread crumbs... & also rice or quinoa crumbs... (& i havent tried it yet, but, just while im mentioning gluten free — there is a rice - based couscous) & u can still have your pasta without wheat — slightly more expensive, but worth it to avoid what gluten does to those who r intolerant — its made from cornflour, so not good for ppl with diverticulitis Seems to be no difference in taste as the kids have never commented (including the big lump u met today... hahaha)
We used gluten free flour in our cheese sauce and topped with
gluten free bread crumbs.
If using a topping, sprinkle
gluten free bread crumbs over the casserole, dust lightly with paprika.

I used my homemade fresh
gluten free bread crumbs, but you can use some crushed gluten free cereal if need be.
I made mine with
gluten free bread crumbs, and baked them, but feel free to use what you like, have on hand, or have the time and energy for — frozen chicken fingers (yup, the is what mom usually did), homemade fried or baked breaded chicken tenderloins, really even boneless, skinless breasts can be used if you want to keep it lighter, but it doesn't absorb the flavor and help to thicken the sauce quite as well.
I use a homemade
gluten free bread crumb recipe when making them but those are a great mix of spices!

He has Celiacs, so I used Glutino

Straight into the food processor with some

But I always take the odds and ends of whatever

For this recipe I used
gluten free panko instead of regular
bread crumbs and brown rice pasta to make the whole dish
