If American really does intend to keep the full 52 seats in the 777 - 300ER
Business Class cabin then that's about as
good as we could have hoped for.

For me the most important part of this trip was the opportunity to review the Qatar Airways A320
Business Class cabin — getting to visit a South East Asian city that I've never visited before (and with an incredibly
good Business Class fare) was a very nice added bonus.
That's a pretty
good price to pay for a
Business Class fare between Europe and Asia and what made it
better for me was that it was for travel on Qatar's A330 and A380 aircraft — I hadn't had a chance to review the
Business Class cabin on either of those aircraft up until this trip (I reviewed the A380 First
Class product last year).
The Dreamliner's
Business Class cabin is reputedly nicer than the
Business Class cabin on the A380 (our other option) and I had never flown in the British Airways 787 - 9 so it would make for a
good review.
Premium
cabin travel doesn't have to be horrifically expensive nor does it have to be purchased with a loyalty currency (Avios) if you're to get a
good deal — you can easily pay more for Economy
Class fares to some of these cities so these
Business Class fares really are very
good indeed — especially the fare to Los Angeles.
Service aside I'm not sure that dinner was anything
better than I've had in some of the more premium
Business Class cabins I've traveled in — I'm not sure I could point to anything and say «now that was First
Class».
That's actually
good news for those in the Economy
class cabin because the airline hasn't yet squeezed and extra seat into every row but it also means that the aircraft has the very old «angle - flat»
business class seat in a 2 -3-2 layout:
To sum up: I wouldn't pay for the
Business Class cabin, you'd have to pay me to sit in a regular Economy
Class seat leaving Premium Economy as clearly the
best option on the aircraft.

United operates a great
business class cabin on 757 between New York (Newark) and the West Coast (Los Angeles and San Francisco) with lie - flat seats and
good food and service.
From 25 March 2018 Lufthansa's daily service between Munich and Chicago will be operated by one of the airline's new A350 aircraft which doesn't feature a First
Class cabin and, as the A330's which operate the other flights on this route don't offer First
Class either,
Business Class is now the
best you'll get on this route... at least for the summer season.
While the number of miles needed for a
Business Class redemption isn't exactly low (you're
better off trying to get to / from Europe on United's own aircraft which will only cost 115,000 for roundtrip
Business Class), the taxes for a premium
cabin award are low for a European route.
A lot of airlines have different standards of
Business Class cabin depending on which of their aircraft you're flying and, if you happen to book on to an aircraft with a poor product, that
Business Class «deal» suddenly doesn't look so
good.
