When she was four days old she had to go to the hospital for two days because
she got jaundice from not feeding enough.

I've come to a school of thought that believes that if most breastfed babies
get jaundice, there must be a physiological component that we don't yet understand and we may be preventing normal biological behaviors through abnormal interventions.

Many babies
get jaundice — which turns their skin yellow — within 3 or 4 days of birth.

I started pumping because my Lily was
jaundice and they wanted me to supplement with formula to
get more fluid in her, but this was a far better option as far as I was concerned.
Fortunately, as long as it is closely watched and quickly treated with phototherapy if the

get too high, there is little reason to be concerned if your baby is jaundiced.
The advantages of

Water supplements,
getting a late start at breastfeeding, and low feeding frequency are all variables that can increase the risk of
jaundice.
Jaundice usually happens because your little one's liver isn't mature enough to
get rid of bilirubin in the bloodstream.
