I'm a long - term traveler who bounces between budget
travel backpacking and occasional splurges of luxury
travel when I
get tired of hostels or all the responsibilities of house - sitting.
There was no
travel partner to lend a hand in carrying my extra-large
backpack through the check - in process, no one there to help me find LAX's notoriously difficult international gates, and no one beside me to assist when I
got off the plane in Cusco, a city I had never been to in a country I had never visited.

get the hang of the whole

One way to
get around this, however, is to always wear your hiking boots on your
travel days — while your feet will end up hot and sweaty, you won't be struggling to fit huge boots in your
backpack.
In eight years of
travelling carry - on only our
backpacks have only been weighed once, so we've managed to
