research university model may reign for faculty, for example, or for faculty in certain fields (say, church history, or biblical studies) but not in others (say, practical theology), while paideia reigns as the model for students, or only for students with a declared vocation to ordained ministry (so that other students aspiring to

research university model); or
research university values may be celebrated in relation to the school's official «academic»

Many
graduate school
programs within the sciences the social sciences require students to do a considerable amount of
research, culminating with a written thesis, or dissertation.
Starting in April, Brown and KickStart Assistant Director Andrew Kant have organized a volunteer - led
program called ideaCRUNCH that schedules informal monthly meetings during which
graduate and professional students interested in entrepreneurship can learn about
research commercialization and network with like - minded people.
When I decided to pursue a
graduate degree, I wanted to develop a novel
research program and quickly establish myself as an independent scientist.
My
graduate program and scientific mentors during my Ph.D. and postdoc emphasized communication as a critical skill, in
research and beyond.
Knowing, upon starting his
graduate studies, that he wanted to solve a real - world problem, Hackett chose his adviser, molecular pharmaceutics researcher Moo Cho, because Cho encouraged his students to pursue their own ideas instead of adding incrementally to an established
research program.
Modelled after a
program at the University of British Columbia, the
research student category is aimed at recently
graduated bachelor's students who are considering a career in
research but haven't yet decided to pursue one.
This is especially true in terms of the status of young scientists, the internationalization of degree
program structures, proactive information and advice about career and
research opportunities, university marketing, and the integration of successful nonnative
graduates into the country's job market.
Other components of the
program are educational and
research opportunities, mentoring, a science - writing workshop, career counseling and guidance, and financial support for students accepted into a
graduate - level
program.
The Network Training
Program, which began last September, offers awards to three categories of scientists: postdocs,
graduate students, and
research students.
The survey also revealed a wide range of
graduate curricula:
programs within astronomy, physics - astronomy, and physics departments; direct - entry Ph.D.
programs, and
programs which required, and valued, the MSc;
programs with extensive and compulsory course requirements, and others which replace courses with minicourses, self - study courses, or extra
research projects;
programs in which coursework (if any) was purely astronomy, and others which included physics or other subjects;
programs with comprehensive exams, and others without or with an exam which was basically a defence of the Ph.D. proposal.
